Persona Portraits, 2009
The idea of a persona portrait is that you convey the subject's personality through aspects of their life, rather than through facial features and expression. For this series, I scanned in several photographs, letters, pages from books, magazines. etc and printed them on absorbent paper. I assembled the pieces into a collage and then mono-printed over them. I also wrote in passages, painted some areas, and put down textures of film negatives or credit cards by various way of print-making. There are a lot of layers in these, and the more you look at them, the more rewarding subtleties you'll discover.
